Kia Ora and welcome to Morrinsville Intermediate School.

We extend a very warm welcome to all new students and their families and wish you all a happy, successful and rewarding association with our school, and wider community.

As a school, we are committed to providing high quality educational programmes, in a very well-resourced school, to best engage our learners and develop positive relationships. Emerging adolescence is such an important developmental stage and the Morrinsville Intermediate School Board has been careful to ensure that the design, staffing and learning programmes of the school are ‘best fit’ for these emerging adolescents.

We enable and empower our teachers to provide students with a connected curriculum where learning is meaningful, authentic and fun. We recognise the importance of the trust you put in us to ‘get it right’ during your child’s intermediate years and take pride in the fact that our school is a place where our students want to be. We strongly believe that for our students to succeed, they need to have positive self-esteem and be immersed in an environment that acknowledges their efforts and celebrates their successes. Along with this, they need the support of their families/whanau and a dedicated, caring and supportive staff.

Of paramount importance to us at Morrinsville Intermediate School is the empowerment of students to take responsibility for their learning, and thus develop the skills to ‘learn how to learn’. We believe that learning-focused partnerships encompassing students, teachers and family/whanau better enable learning success. We work hard with our students to ensure they know what they are learning, the purpose for their learning, how to set and monitor goals and how to identify and respond to their next learning steps through a range of curriculum opportunities.

Emerging adolescents enjoy exposure to opportunities available within this school that are broad and reflect a 21st Century learning environment.  In this way our students are well prepared to experience success at College in the future. Coupled with opportunity is competition and this is evident in all we do; where individuals are recognised for personal growth, while outstanding achievement is warmly encouraged and celebrated.

We look forward to you joining our school where you will become an important part of our learning community. We welcome and value the support and participation of family/whanau at school activities and events. We give you our commitment that we will do our very best to support all students to develop the foundation necessary to ensure a successful transition onto their secondary education.

In summary, we will endeavour to ensure our learners develop and demonstrate the dispositions of confident, connected, actively-involved life-long learners.  This is reflected by our our school vision "Empowering Learners to Succeed" and our school motto: Kia U Ki Te Pai – whatever you do, let it be your best.

Kind regards,

Jenny Clark
