RTLB Ngaruawahia Primary School Ngaruawahia
Kia ora everyone,
My name is Deidre McNamara. I am proud to inform you that I am the new member of your RTLB team.
I am from a large Irish family with whanau links to Tukorehe Marae in Ohau, Levin. I have grown up in Hamilton and have travelled extensively, living and working in London and Waihi. I have worked in Ngaruawahia, Huntly and Te Kauwhata as a Police Education Officer. My partner, Jason McKay is currently the Shift Commander for the Waikato region. We have been together for 21 years and have two children. My daughter Renee, has recently started as a Laboratory Technician for Fulton Hogan and my son Logan, is currently attending Hamilton Boys High and is fully involved in ‘Sport Development’ particularly for Cricket. He was invited to participate in the Northern Districts Secondary Schools’ Invitational Team this year.
I have had 26 years experience in the Education and Policing sectors. I have been involved in leadership opportunities in both careers. My most recent leadership has been working as a Kāhui Ako member for the Catholic schools in Hamilton. My passion is to truly engage learners emotionally, cognitively and behaviourally. I do this by forming and sustaining high trust relationships. I am conscious of respecting and showing empathy to all stakeholders. I strongly believe in leading by example and I have a proven history of identifying and supporting students with barriers to their learning.
I am very excited to have the opportunity to work alongside you and to continue developing my own pedagogy.
I look forward to meeting and working with you in the future.
