General Information

Kia Ora
My name is Cherie Grant and I have a long association with Morrinsville and the wider district. I completed some of my schooling in the Morrinsville area, as well as teaching at Motumaoho School and Tauwhare School. As a teenager, I left Morrinsville College to study Year 13 at Kitami Fuji Girls High School in Japan. Upon returning from overseas, I completed an undergraduate degree in Japanese and Economics, and then progressed to a Graduate Diploma in Education. Early in my career my interest in literacy led to beginning a Master in Education (specialising in reading difficulties), and this is still a work in progress. 18 years ago, my first son entered this world and now I am a proud Mum to four children and step-mum to two more, a busy household!
My weekends are filled with following the children around the variety of sports and activities they are involved in, as well as managing to be involved in a few sporting pursuits myself. Being busy outdoors is also a passion of mine, and as a family, we do enjoy water skiing and camping during the summer months.
I challenge our students to always be taking on new learning challenges, and at present I am currently completing a course in Te Ahu o Te Reo Māori.
Thank you for the opportunity to teach your wonderful children and to be part of their lifelong learning journey. If you are in school, please pop in to Room 5 and introduce yourself, I look forward to meeting you.
